Anticipated Start Date:
The Community Colleges offer a wide variety of educational programs including two-year academic degree programs as well as technical and occupational programs. Among the programs are Advanced Manufacturing, Mechatronics Automation, LEAN Manufacturing, and Manufacturing Engineering Technology, which combine classroom, precision machining and fabrication training, and internship opportunities as components of the instruction model.
The Manufacturing Program Director is responsible for program needs assessment, development, marketing, program accreditation, and administrative oversight of classroom and skills instruction.
Incumbents must possess a proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
Advanced Manufacturing Technology Master’s Degree and a minimum of two (2) or more years of Manufacturing Technology Industry experience OR;
Advanced Manufacturing Technology Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of five (5) or more years of Manufacturing Technology Industry experience OR;
Advanced Manufacturing Technology Associate’s Degree and a minimum of five (5) or more years of Manufacturing Technology Industry experience and five (5) or more years of management experience.; OR a combination of education, training, and experience that would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties:
Successful Candidate must have or must possess:
- Professional competence in advanced manufacturing subject disciplines
- Experience with Academic and practical instruction techniques and methodologies
- Experience with student testing and evaluation
- Leadership in an organization with multiple partners.

- Experience with student populations similar to those served by CT State Community Colleges.
- Experience leading cross-departmental programs/projects in higher education.
- Experience with best practices for instructional/curriculum design using multiple modalities and pedagogical approaches.
Example of Job Duties:
Under the direction of the Dean or other administrator, the Manufacturing Program Director is accountable for the development and delivery of degree and certificate programs meeting the instructional goals of the College through effective performance in these essential functional areas:
- Program and curriculum development and implementation, both credit and non-credit components
- Development of CCC Manufacturing Center
- Faculty recruitment, selection, and professional development
- Instructional quality
- Administration and resource management
- Budget and fiscal management
- Program evaluation and assessment
- Liaison with local and state manufacturing coordinating bodies.
- Work with area K-12 schools and community-based organizations to promote the industry and create a referral pipeline
In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of: Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

$75,124 approximate annual* plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. Salary Range for this level is $75,124-$136,388. (*New hires to State employment start at minimum of salary range).
