Description
The University of Mary Hardin Baylor's College of Education seeks qualified faculty for its Education Department beginning Fall 2022, with appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. UMHB seeks faculty who are active Christians and dedicated teacher-scholars to prepare students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society.
The College of Education offers an undergraduate program for teacher certification as well as several graduate degree programs. All undergraduate courses relate to public school instruction and involve preparation for success on the Texas Examination of Educator Standards as well as proficiency in the classroom. Individuals with public school experience are preferred.
UMHB is conveniently located in Belton, an historic town of 22,000 in the heart of central Texas. Nearby cities are Temple (5 miles), Waco (45 miles), Austin (65 miles), San Antonio (130 miles) and Dallas/Ft. Worth (130 miles). Excellent schools, abundant cultural and recreational opportunities, and a high quality of life are hallmarks of the local community.
Faculty Responsibilities:
Activities required of all faculty include exemplary teaching, curriculum development, student advising; professional attainment; and service to department, college, university, and the community.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Teach learner-centered undergraduate and graduate courses (including online instruction as well as face-to-face) related to one or more of the following:
- Educational psychology
- Instructional technology and technology integration
- Curriculum design and articulation
- Working with diverse populations, including ESL, bilingual, and learning difficulties
- State of Texas standards for instruction and assessment
- Provide leadership in working with state and local education entities
- Collaborate with other faculty members in monitoring and implementing various aspects of the graduate and undergraduate programs, including field experiences.
Qualifications:
- Doctorate from an accredited institution with an area of emphasis in one or more of the focus areas listed above is required. ABD will be considered (tenure track status requires terminal degree in hand).
- Valid teaching certificate and minimum of three (3) years' successful teaching experience in the K-12 environment is required. Texas teaching experience is a plus.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in curriculum design and delivery, educational psychology/special education, instructional technology, and working with diverse populations.
- Must be an active, and committed Christian.
