Job Summary Central Washington University is recruiting two Psychologists to join our Student Counseling Services team in Ellensburg, Washington. The Role:

This position provides individual, couples and group counseling, assessment and crisis intervention services to CWU students and is an integral member of the Student Counseling Services team supporting the wellbeing of university students. This position also provides focused outreach and liaison building with university departments and student groups that support students from marginalized identities and communities. Provide training and supervision of doctoral and masters interns in areas of expertise. All employees are expected to support CWU’s commitment to diversity and to bring and support inclusion into the university environment.

Job Duties

- Provide individual, couples, and group counseling, assessment, and crisis intervention services to students, both independently and in consultation with counselors, medical providers, and Director of Counseling
- Provide consultation services to student groups, faculty, and staff of the university as requested
- Participate as a team member and provide leadership, motivation, and facilitation of services within Student Counseling Services and the greater University community
- Work cooperatively with supervisor, colleagues, students, and internal/external constituencies
- Participate in multi-disciplinary team delivery of service
- Maintain client records and statistical data as required by the Student Counseling Services and applicable laws and regulations
- Attend and participate in case consultation, counseling staff meetings, diversity seminars, multi-disciplinary team meetings, group consultation and clinic-wide meetings
- Plan and organize work to make efficient use of time and university resources and to remain flexible in an ever-changing environment
- Understand, support, and demonstrate a commitment to institutional policies, procedures, and goals
- Design, implement and evaluate developmental outreach programs, presentations, workshops, and other activities to facilitate student growth, with a particular focus on the needs of underserved students
- Develop strategic and effective partnerships with other university departments/programs supporting students with marginalized identities
- In partnership with Director of Counseling and other DEI focused positions, provide peer leadership amongst other staff in the enactment of the Student Counseling Services’ Social Justice Initiative
- Conduct internal continuing education programs, seminars, and workshops
- Provide after-hours, weekend, and holiday on-call support to university administration on a rotating basis
- Provide training and clinical supervision to interns, peer educators, and others as requested and qualified to do
- Participate in approved research and program evaluation activities

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in mental health discipline or PhD or PsyD in clinical or counseling psychology conferred by start date
  • Successful completion of a supervised internship
  • Eligible for licensure as LMHC, LMFT, or Psychologist in State of Washington
  • If mental health discipline is Social Work (MSW), must already be licensed in State of Washington
  • If not currently licensed, able to obtain licensure within two years (24 months) of hire
  • Commitment to multicultural competency and ability to work effectively with traditionally underserved populations
  • Ability to provide brief, focused, effective counseling
  • Experience providing risk assessment and crisis response
  • Experience working as part of a collaborative, team-based approach to student services in a fast-paced work setting
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and group communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to provide some afterhours work on an as-needed-basis and counselor-on-call rotation
  • Demonstrated willingness and/or experience working with students and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds, and experiences
  • OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position

Preferred Qualifications

  • Able to provide counseling services in Spanish
  • Focused experience working in counseling and advocacy with Latinx, undocumented, DACA, and/or mixed status families
  • Focused experience working in counseling and advocacy with Transgender, Gender Non-Conforming, or other minoritized gender identities
  • Hold current license to practice in state of residence and/or Washington State.
  • Two years of counseling experience as a licensed professional.
  • Focused experience working in counseling and advocacy with people from marginalized identities/communities (BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, low income, first generation, undocumented, DACA students, students with mixed status family, students with disabilities, veterans, etc.).
  • Experience or interest in mentoring students from a variety of backgrounds
  • Life experiences that demonstrate an ability to contribute to CWU‘s commitment to inclusion and diversity
  • Potential to mentor and educate students who will serve diverse populations

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Salary: Dependent upon qualifications and experience

Schedule/Appointment: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (1 hour lunch)

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a building housing both Student Counseling Services and Student Health Services on a single floor with a common front office and back-office work area. Exposure to communicable disease and infection may occur. The majority of the work will occur within this setting with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer workstation for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records. There may be some evening or weekend on-call responsibilities on a rotational basis.
