POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department Chair provides academic, administrative, and creative leadership at New York Film Academys Los Angeles campus.

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The day-to-day duties required of this position may vary.

Course scheduling and faculty workload assignments;
Faculty professional development;
Mentoring and advising;
Hiring, supervising, and evaluation of faculty and staff;
Overseeing departmental agenda and efforts on diversity, equity, and inclusion, from curriculum to hiring; Equipment purchasing, maintenance, and repair; Maintenance of studio, lab, and classroom facilities.
Represents and promotes the department in community, regional, national and international forums and fosters the continued development of a diverse department.
Facilitates planning, curriculum, accreditation and assessment activities within the department.
Works collaboratively with staff on a variety of projects.
Manage & resolve student issues, monitoring students' progress in conjunction with the Dean of Students, Registrar's Office and respective departments.
Plan & oversee scheduling of courses for each Community Education program in the department.
Lead faculty meetings to discuss industry trends, curricular development and curriculum delivery.
Oversee the course syllabi for each Community Education program, ensuring learning competencies and programmatic goals are delivered effectively.
Propose curricular changes and course offerings to Associate Dean for Institutional Accreditation and Dean of College for review.
Prepare departmental documents and reports and oversee the departmental records in order to comply with state & accreditation regulations.
Teaches undergraduate and graduate courses and mentors graduate students.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION:
The successful applicant will have an M.F.A. in discipline or related experience in the industry, university- level teaching experience, a strong record of scholarship or creative activity, and a professional record.
Has a demonstrated record of success in working with students, faculty, colleagues, alumni, and community members. Experience in higher education academic leadership and administration is preferred.
Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of effective supervision.
