Position Summary

The mission of the Information Technology Division is to develop the long-term infrastructure, services, and strategy necessary to support the University’s mission of learning, discovery, and engagement. The IT Division has the stewardship responsibility for core IT assets on campus and the obligation to provide the services, training, and community building necessary to realize the benefits of those investments across the San Diego State University community.

As a member of the Data Architecture & DevOps department, the Enterprise Application Analyst/Programmer is responsible for maintaining and developing vendor delivered and custom written applications. The Data Architecture and DevOps group supports application development for campus identity systems as well as administrative systems, including PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and Human Capital Management.

The Enterprise Application Analyst/Programmer will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to support enterprise data architecture and infrastructure including the creation of PeopleSoft integrations/interfaces allowing the data exchange between PeopleSoft and various campus applications as well as supporting applications to aid the inventory, curation, and usability of campus data. This position will provide technical analyst/programmer support specifically for various campus applications developed using languages such as .NET and Java and database technologies including Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle. In addition, Enterprise Application Analyst/Programmer is expected to work with functional and business users to define, scope, design, and implement solutions.

Full-time, benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

This position is physically located at the SDSU San Diego Campus. Optional, partial telecommuting with onsite work in San Diego.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science or business, or equivalent training and applied experience.

Licenses and/or Certifications Required

  • A valid CA driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within 10 days of hire.

Specialized Skills

  • One or more years’ experience working with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions or Human Capital Management in a role accessing data, creating integrations/interfaces to exchange data with other systems
  • PeopleTools in version 8.x or above including Application Designer, Application Engine, PeopleCode, SQR, PS Query, Data Mover, and integration technologies Component Interface and Integration Broker.
  • Experience writing Structured Query Language (SQL) queries to query and manipulate data

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of PeopleSoft security model involving use of Permission Lists, Roles, Query Trees, and Row-Level Security assignment.
  • Experience implementing PeopleSoft self-service applications
  • Experience implementing delivered and custom web services for use with PeopleSoft
  • Ability to use HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, JQuery, JSON, and JavaScript libraries

Compensation and Benefits

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources. Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $8,000 per month.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,372 - $10,792 per month.

SDSU Vaccine Policy

In accordance with the California State University system wide policy, students, faculty, and staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a valid medical or religious exemption in order to access campus. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated for five months after their final dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine or for two months after receiving the only dose of a single-dose vaccine. Afterward a COVID-19 booster is required to continue to be considered fully vaccinated.

The individual hired into this role will be required to submit their completed vaccination documentation to the university’s secure online health portal prior to beginning work. Individuals with an approved medical or religious exemption on file with the university will be required to participate in SDSU’s COVID-19 testing program.
