Job Summary:
The Assistant Dean of Manufacturing Technologies provides educational management and leadership in the areas of manufacturing; welding, machining, engineering/architectural design, manufacturing technology, logistics and supply chain management, CATIA, 3D printing and other applicable disciplines.  The Assistant Dean (AD) provides leadership and direction in the development of programs, course curriculum, assessment activities, NC3 certifications, and ensures compliance with established academic process and procedures. The AD establishes and maintains collaboration with business and industry. The AD provides a positive environment for teaching and learning; and advocates for faculty, students, & staff following WSU Techs mission, vision, and values. The AD reports to the Dean, Aviation and Manufacturing.

Quick Glance of Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Works collaboratively with all departments to ensure the best experience for our students.
  2. Works with industry to determine customer needs and provide the highly trained workforce for industry; as well as to support technical education and manufacturing careers.
  3. Manages the day-to- day operations of assigned departments. Supervises and evaluates direct reports.
  4. Coordinates and administers scheduling of classes and teaching assignments for faculty.
  5. Works with Institutional Effectiveness to evaluate each program within the division every year through a program review process based on enrollment, industry standards, job placement, accreditation standards, and KBOR requirements.
  6. Plans, organizes, and monitors expenditures of program budgets.
  7. Maintains leadership for learner outcomes and assessment of all courses and programs.
  8. Supports faculty in assessing learner outcomes.
  9. Performs duties related to accreditation, assessment, and program review
  10. Demonstrates strong and clear commitment to diversity among students, faculty and staff.
  11. Promotes academic freedom as well as academic responsibility.
  12. Works with the Director of High School Partnerships to develop, maintain, and promote articulation agreements and create semester by semester high school schedules.
  13. Collaborates with other Kansas institutions in the development of courses and programs.

Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills Needed:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field to industry, required. Master’s degree preferred
  • Four years of secondary or post-secondary teaching/leadership experience in one of the programs in the manufacturing technologies division is preferred. OR four years full-time work experience in management or leadership in manufacturing or in industry with training as an element of job role.
  • Extensive experience with at least one of the following areas, required, experience in all areas preferred:
WeldingMachiningEngineering/Architectural DesignManufacturing Assembly/ProductionManufacturing Automation/MaintenanceLogistics and/or Supply Chain ManagementCATIA3D printing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – must be able to effectively work with students, technical and administrative personnel in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to accurately and quickly process, enter and audit data.
  • Effective time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a timely manner, and the ability to prudently prioritize tasks, projects and goals.
  • Demonstrate ability and knowledge to provide team leadership for planning.



Pay Rate: $68,000 /yr
Schedule: 7a-4p generally; NCAT/City Center Campus
