This is a full-time, probationary position.

The salary range for this classification is a minimum of $4,161 - a maximum of $8,030 monthly.

Major Duties

Under the general direction of the Senior Financial, Administration, & Operations Officer, the Accounting Financial Analyst provides input into and assistance in ensuring sound accounting and financial administration including hands-on coordination of all CEIE's accounting matters, procurement, contracts implementation and monitoring, financial planning, budgeting, fiscal controls, cost planning, accounting and financial analysis, and reporting.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

Experience: Equivalent to two years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience.

Education: Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, business administration, finance or a closely related field OR a combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge:
Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); office methods and procedures; statistical and mathematical presentation of data; advanced proficiency with current word processing and spreadsheet software programs, web browsers, query tools, integrated financial systems and/or other types of records management systems. General understanding of internal control methods.

Abilities:
Ability to apply accounting principles to the analysis of complex accounting and financial problems; analyze and interpret accounting and financial data; prepare clear, concise, and accurate financial statements and reports; understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and principles; make recommendations regarding accounting activities; communicate effectively with others inside and outside of the college

Preferred Qualifications:

An M.B.A. from an AACSB-accredited business program, and higher education accounting and financial operations experience preferred. PeopleSoft experience is preferable.

Responsibilities

50% - Ensures that assigned accounting activities are carried out in accordance with general accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Reconciles and corrects account balances to external data
- Identifies actual or potential accounting problems and recommends corrective or preventative action
- Leads in the development of financial statements and reports
- Provides hands-on day-to-day compliance on all CEIE accounting matters
- Examines the completeness, accuracy, and conformance on the proper use of chart fields to resolve accounting problems
- Participates in timely responses to financial information inquiries and requests as needed
- Reviews purchases to ensure compliance with all policies and procedures, checks, balances, internal controls, and adherence to program budgets

45% - Recommends changes to and assists with the documentation and maintenance of business processes
- Performs financial analyses to help ensure responsible and appropriate management of CEIE resources
- Monitors CEIE funds and accounts including faculty and staff salaries, benefits costs, utilities, risk management, insurance, and others
- Monitors CEIE expenses to ensure spending does not exceed established departmental and program budgets
- Ensures information is provided in a timely manner
- Works with CEIE's program coordinators to understand their financial needs
- Provides input for budgetary strategies designed to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of CEIE operations
- Participates in the review of CEIE budgetary units to assist in the identification of opportunities to effectively deploy financial resources
- Prepares and tracks budgetary commitments
- Participates in a complex annual planning process to help ensure its successful implementation
- Participates in annual budget reviews with CEIE's program coordinators
- Participates in oversight, planning, development and administration of CEIE funds
- Participates in internal and external audit processes as appropriate
- Ensures the completeness, accuracy, and conformance on the proper use of chart fields to resolve problems
- Develops financial statements and reports as needed
- Meets regularly with the Senior Financial, Administration, & Operations Officer in support of overseeing college budget functions and resource needs
- Participates in the preparation of regular reports and expenditures for various analyses at various levels of detail
- Prepares income and expense data for current and year-end budget status
- Conducts historical revenue and expense data in support for financial assessments and recommendations

5% - Other duties as assigned.
