Responsible for supporting institutional research, strategic planning, University-wide initiatives and decision making through data analysis, interpretation, reporting and development of recommendations for institutional action. The Research Analyst provides statistical and methodological expertise for the collection, analysis and interpretation of data for strategic planning and assessment purposes. 1. Support the Office of Strategic Planning and Initiatives data needs related to the institutional strategic plans, emerging and new initiatives as requested by the Office of Strategic Planning and Initiatives (OSPI). (During this first year, this could be upwards of 80%.)
*Meet with the OSPI team to remain apprised of emerging initiatives
*Assist in the strategic planning and assessment processes through data analysis and review
*Assist in University-wide new and existing initiatives assessment process through data analysis and review
*Respond to ad hoc data requests and consult with internal college and department constituencies to determine and clarify data, reports and research requirements
*Use a variety of databases and other resources to collect, compile and report statistics, demographic information and related data to meet information needs and inform senior leadership
*Provide statistical data, research and analysis using multiple and disparate datasets and information sources that require data cleansing and transformation
*Prepare and present research and statistical reports, utilizing Tableau and other data visualization tools

2. Respond to institutional data requests from internal sources and mandatory external reporting; provide analysis and reporting support
*Use a variety of databases and other resources to collect, compile and report statistics, demographic information and related data to meet information needs and inform senior leadership
*Provides statistical data, research and analysis using multiple and disparate datasets and information sources that require data cleansing and transformation
*Interpret report findings and make recommendations to senior staff or other groups as requested
*Prepare and present research and statistical reports, utilizing Tableau and other data visualization tools
*Assist in the strategic planning and assessment processes through data analysis and review
*Maintain detailed records of research activities, analysis and procedures
*Respond to ad hoc data requests and consult with internal college constituencies to determine and clarify data, reports and research requirements
*Assist with completion of all international ranking surveys which are the source of the following world rankings: US News World Rankings, Times Higher Education World Rankings and University Impact Ranking and QS World University Rankings

3. Carry out survey research projects conducted through Office of Institutional Research & Strategic Analytics (OIRSA)
* Create, design and implement survey research projects using Qualtrics
*Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses of internal surveys
*Administer surveys conducted internally including, but not limited to, the Senior Survey, and the Campus Climate Surveys
*Facilitate the administration of the National Survey of Student Engagement and the Faculty Survey on Student Engagement; analyze and present findings related to student engagement initiatives
*Perform related data collection and cleansing
*Present summary results and analysis
*Analyze survey data using appropriate statistical methods to interpret results and prepare and present summary results and analysis

4. Develop statistical models and provide research support, as well as initiative research studies including predictive modeling for evaluation of institutional issues such as enrollment, financial aid, faculty, etc.
*Conduct qualitative and quantitative primary and secondary research to support the custom research needs of the University
*Collaborate with stakeholders to design research projects that effectively address institutional issues, including clarifying key research questions and developing a plan to execute data collection, analysis and interpretation
*Use appropriate research methods and statistical procedures including regression, correlation and other appropriate approaches to provide independent analysis and interpretation of data for use in strategic planning, assessment, and decision support
*Prepare written summaries and reports of research findings and recommendations including the use of charts and graphs

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Social Science Research or Research related field or equivalent combination of education and experience; Master’s Degree in Statistics, Social Science Research or Research related field preferred

One to three years related work experience

Institutional research experience a plus

2 or more years of experience in research or educational environment

Excellent communication (written and oral), interpersonal skills and a high level of customer service required

Ability to build, foster and maintain positive professional relationships

Excellent organizational skills, time management and sound judgment

Adept use of digital communication preferred

Solid analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills

Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position
