The Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs invites applications for an Administrative Assistant in the Primary Care Clinic, located in the Lane Center. The Medical Assistant position will assist the clinic manager, providers, and staff with clinic medical administrative activities. This position is also responsible for front office functions in the absence of the clinic patient services representative.

The Helen and Arthur E Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is a distinguished and innovative college providing excellence in education, scholarship, and practice in the health professions. The college currently serves ~1,400 students (80% undergraduate and 20% graduate) through its programs in the Department of Nursing, the Department of Health Sciences, and the Department of Human Physiology and Nutrition.

Job Duties:

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

Completes administrative tasks to support the clinic manager, providers, and staff.Communicates with insurance brokers, third-party administrators, and insurance carriers as questions and issues arise.Acts as the referral coordinator for the clinic, processing incoming and outgoing referrals.Communicates with patients and provides responsive customer service.Helps to maintain and verify patient demographic information in the medical record.Assists with scheduling patients when appropriate.Follows billing and collections procedures for the clinic.Provides medical records and other pertinent information to our internal and external customers as authorized and needed. Follows release of information guidelines according to policy and HIPAA guidelines. Maintains control of medical records through established policies.Assists the clinic manager, providers, and staff in creating processes and procedures to improve patient care and enhance operational effectiveness.Assists clinic manager, providers, and staff to troubleshoot EMR issues.Assists the clinic patient services representative when needed to complete clinic front desk operations.Other duties as assigned.Job Competencies:

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What We Offer

Salary Range: Generally starting at $35,448 - $42,936.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

    Qualifications
    Minimum Qualifications:

    Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

      High school Diploma or GEDTwo years of experience in an administrative role in a medical setting
    Preferred Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Business or another related field

    1 year of experience with billing, coding, and financial transactions in a medical setting

    1 year of experience with eClinical Works EMR

    Physical Requirements:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. Employee is occasionally required to move. Tasks may involve using a computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
