Description
The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Art Department welcomes applications for full-time Visiting Assistant Professor positions with specialties in Graphic Design, Studio, Foundations, and/or Art History. This position is a 9 month, non-tenure track visiting faculty position with consideration for a second year renewal, based on performance and enrollment. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in support of the BA and BFA programs, as well as in the General Education core, beginning August 2022.
UMHB seeks faculty who are active Christians and dedicated teacher-scholars to prepare students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society.
The Art Department is a NASAD accredited program that offers two undergraduate degrees, which include the B.F.A with majors in studio, graphic design, or art education, and the traditional liberal arts B.A. in Art.
UMHB is conveniently located in Belton, an historic town of 22,000 in the heart of central Texas. Nearby cities are Temple (5 miles), Waco (45 miles), Austin (65 miles), San Antonio (130 miles) and Dallas/Ft. Worth (130 miles). Excellent schools, abundant cultural and recreational opportunities, and a high quality of life are hallmarks of the local community.
Faculty Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate courses throughout the art curriculum dependent on the candidate's specialties and departmental needs. Visiting positions typically teach 12 hours per semester.
Qualifications:
- A terminal degree from an accredited university appropriate for the discipline(i.e. MFA, MDes, or PhD in studio arts, graphic design or art history or equivalent degree in a related field) is required. A bachelor's degree from an accredited university and substantial professional record with national/international recognition will be considered in lieu of a terminal degree.
- Excellent teaching and communication skills, a dedication to professional attainment, and commitment to quality improvement are essential.
- Active record of recognized professional activity and creative research
- Must be an active and committed Christian.
