PRIMARY PURPOSE/ POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Vice President of University Advancement, the Director of Donor Relations is responsible for creating and implementing a broad-based strategy of stewarding and recognizing donors and their charitable contributions to the University. She/he will strengthen relationships with existing and potential donors so that they feel informed, engaged, and appreciated, ensuring a high-quality experience for the university’s donors.

JOB COMPONENTS/PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the preparation of endowment reports, the creation of gift agreements and presidential gift acknowledgements.
- Serve as primary point of contact between Financial Aid, the Business Office and academic units in organizing and reporting scholarship information to donors. Facilitates ongoing communication and annual reporting to donors regarding the impact of their investment.
- Ensures that the institutional policy for named spaces is followed, providing leadership and guidance for the naming of campus rooms, coordinating the design process for plaques, utilizing the events team to assist with naming ceremonies as needed, and maintaining ongoing lists of named spaces.
- Oversees the planning and execution of key special events involving the President or Vice President for University Advancement, such as the annual Scholarship Luncheon and Benefit Concert & Gala. Serve as point person on sponsorships and working with committee members.
- Maintain an ongoing commitment to best practices in donor relations overall, to inform UA strategy.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, attention to detail, and work well independently and as a team member.
- Perform other duties as requested, delegated or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Relationships:
Ability to work across reporting lines within UA, as well as with campus partners.
Education and Experience:
Candidates for this position should have a minimum of five years of progressively increasing experience in a related field, preferably in higher education or a non-profit organization; excellent oral and written communication skills; be a strong strategic thinker, well-organized, and exceptionally detail-oriented.
A bachelor’s degree is required. Dominican University alumnae/i encouraged to apply.
