JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Peer-led Team Learning (PLTL) Coordinator

FLSA STATUS: Exempt (salary)

DEPARTMENT: Student Success and Engagement

REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Academic Success for STEM

HOURS: Full-time (37.5 hours)

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE/POSITION SUMMARY:

The PLTL Coordinator supports the delivery of STEM focused academic success skill development for students participating in the National Science Foundation (NSF) funded DU STEM Success Model and Title III-F interventions. Housed in the Academic Success Center and reporting to the Assistant Director of Academic Success for STEM, The PLTL Coordinator will help implement and assist in the data collection related for two interventions: (1) The STEM Summer Science Institute, a summer bridge program, and (2) STEM gateway pilot courses. This is a grant-funded position with anticipated employment dates beginning as early as July 1, 2022 and ending June 30, 2023. Renewal of the position will be subject to an annual review during the grant-period.

JOB COMPONENTS/PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Train in DU STEM Success PLTL model
  2. Support the implementation (promotion, recruitment, participant selection, and coordination) of the STEM Summer Science Institute
  3. Assign students to PLTL workshops each semester
  4. Arrange space (room assignments) for weekly PLTL workshops
  5. Produce and maintain class-section-corresponding PLTL Canvas pages (documentation)
  6. Curate and archive workshop materials (SharePoint, Canvas)
  7. Support grant evaluation by collecting data related to students’ drop-in tutoring and PLTL workshop attendance
  8. Other duties as assigned

 

 

Qualifications: 

Required education & experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM or Education
  • Experience with Peer-led Team Learning or other forms of Supplemental Instruction

 

Required knowledge, skills, abilities

  • Capacity for event planning, scheduling logistics, and collaborating with partners across a complex institution
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite: OneDrive, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Learning Management Systems (Canvas)
  • Ability to develop and independently manage a variety of time-sensitive projects simultaneously and meet all required deadlines
