Summary of Duties

Responsibilities involve full-time teaching of a range of Anatomy and Physiology courses.

Duties & Responsibilities

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Teach Anatomy and Physiology courses and other courses as needed which may include Developmental Science, Laboratory Sciences and Biology courses with a typical load of 16 contact hours per week. Teaching assignments may include day, evening and/or weekend. Be prepared to support electronic course management systems and hybrid course delivery modalities.
  • Provide 10 office hours per week, 7 in person and 3 virtually to meet with students for student advising, course questions and college-wide and departmental assessment activities.
  • Provide 14 hours of professional and community service, including attending faculty and curriculum meetings, participation in professional development, student advising, curriculum development (including lab preparation); textbook review/selection and mentoring adjunct instructors, serving on College committees, and community and professional activities.
  • Strive for maximizing student success through continuous improvement planning based on assessment data and student learning outcome evidence.
  • Foster an atmosphere of inclusiveness and support for our diverse student population.
  • Be committed to the implementation of the philosophy and conceptual frame-work of Rhodes State College and the Biological Sciences Department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Experience, Skills & Abilities

    Required:

  • Must be competent in oral and written communication as well as in computer technology.
  • Ability to interact positively with students and colleagues is essential.
  • Must be committed to the two-year college mission and quality instruction.
  • Preferred:

    • Previous teaching experience at the two-year and/or four-year college level.
    Education & Certifications

    Required:

    • Master's degree in Anatomy & Physiology, or Biology, or Master's in a closely related field with at least eighteen semester hours (or the quarterly equivalent) of graduate courses in Anatomy & Physiology or Biology.
