Job Summary

Incumbent manages and directs Residence Hall Security which includes the Residence Hall Security Program, Residence Hall Security Camera Project, and Residence Hall Security Cadet Program in conjunction with the University Police Department. Ensures programs are effective and identifies additional resources to reduce liability and enhance the safety of residence hall students.

Essential Functions

  • Manages the Residence Hall Student Security and Residence Hall Cadet Program. Responsibilities include staff recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation.
  • Develops and manages the Residence Hall Security Camera Program. Manages the technical operations of closed circuit cameras throughout campus and related digital equipment and assists the University police with information collected and archived.
  • Develops and implements strategic plan and operational objectives for residence hall security. Develops and manages new rules, regulations, policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of residence hall security.
  • Acts as a liaison to Housing Services, University Police and Police Cadets, the UCard Office and the Office of Information Technologies (OIT), as well as other campus units.
  • Develops and manages security operating and capital budgets.
  • Identifies and participates in educational opportunities concerning residence hall security for University staff and residence hall students.
  • Provides on-call support for residence hall security and camera programs.
  • Collaborates with other campus agencies that are implementing security camera or card access systems.
  • Maintains technical proficiency and updates knowledge through appropriate courses, seminars, publications, training opportunities, and contacts with others in the trade.
  • Assures Crime Advisories and Crime Alerts are shared with all working student security and Cadet staff and promptly posted on the front door of each Residence Hall.

  • Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Bachelor’s degree and three to five (3-5) years of experience in administration of programs involving recruitment, supervision and policy development.
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Technical proficiency in acquisition and maintenance of security camera or card access systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation; no conviction record of felony.

  • Related experience in college or university setting.

  • Work Schedule

  • Monday – Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.
