Under the supervision of the Director of the Robert Day Scholars Program and Scholar Communities, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for the facilitation and execution of a personal and professional development program; as well as bringing heightened awareness and information about campus resources to all scholar community students.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

ROBERT DAY SCHOLARS PROGRAM (70%)

The Robert Day Scholars Program prepares highly motivated students for leadership roles in a variety of industries, including financial services, consulting, and not-for-profit organizations. By completing coursework that provides students with the fundamental skills necessary to navigate complex organizations, Robert Day Scholars graduate with the foundation necessary to excel at the start of their careers. Support for the Robert Day Scholars Program will include:

  • Coordination of guest speakers and logistics for an annual calendar of personal and professional development workshops, focused on topics such as:

    • Self-Awareness

    • Leadership Styles

    • Team Dynamics

    • Ethics

    • Professional Development & Career Preparation

  • Support the facilitation of a co-curricular class through maintaining accurate records course attendance and homework assignment completion

  • Support the application and selection process of the Robert Day Scholars Program through marketing, application support and interview coordination

  • Plan, execute and participate in social events designed to reinforce the strength of the Robert Day Scholars Program as both a horizontal and vertical cohort;

  • Assist in the planning and coordination of Robert Day Scholar special events, such as: award ceremonies, receptions, off campus events, graduation events, and co-curricular activities associated with the Day Scholars Program

SCHOLAR COMMUNITY SUPPORT (30%)

Many admitted students have the opportunity to join a Scholar Community, one of 11 individual experiential learning programs created to support students with shared interests and backgrounds in a variety of disciplines and fields. Today, nearly 10 percent of our first-year classes participate in our Scholar Communities, taking advantage of a variety of campus-wide opportunities and programs in science, global affairs, leadership, public policy, and beyond. Scholar Community students receive a range of benefits and support in and out of the classroom. Support for the Scholar Communities will include:

  • Assist the Director of Scholar Communities & the Office of Advancement in preparing annual stewardship reports for each Scholar Community

  • Coordinate student support activities, to include:

    • Onboarding events for first year students

    • Scholar Community cohort building events

    • Ad-hoc event planning & support as necessary

    • Preparing communications to students highlighting campus resources and events

  • Work with Director of Scholar Communities to ensure full Scholar Community participation in the Sponsored Internships and Experiences Program

  • Work with Advancement to ensure relevant populations are invited to events & assist with student preparation for such events

  • Assist with administrative tasks related to the Scholar Communities as necessary

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) or more years of related experience in professional development and event support.

LICENSES: A valid driver’s license or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events is required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: Individual must possess knowledge, skills, and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge skills and abilities.

  • Ability to quickly absorb the organization, curriculum, and mission and policies of the Robert Day Scholars Program, each Scholar Community and CMC.

  • Ability to build relationships with multiple constituencies; customer service focused.

  • Ability to travel locally and domestically (up to 10%)

HOURS: The regular hours for this full time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday and may vary due to the needs of the College. Overtime, holiday, weekend and evening work hours as well as the ability to travel may also be required depending on the needs of the department.

CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS: This is a full-time, 12-month year round, non-exempt level, benefits-eligible position.
