Position Summary

The Physician Assistant performs counseling and immunizes patients traveling internationally including students, faculty, staff and the public; conducts pre-employment physicals; provides current employee preventative medicine in Occupational Health and Travel; performs outside immunization clinics for faculty, staff and students; and conducts DOT physicals.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree in an approved Physician Assistant program; State of Michigan license, and certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physicians Assistants or, to be obtained within six months of hire; one to three years of experience as a Physician's Assistant.

Desired Qualifications

Experience in the area of international travel and/or occupational health; experience in Occupational Health or Travel medicine; proficiency administering immunizations and assessing immunization status; experience doing phlebotomy, spirometry, alcohol testing and HIV counseling; proficiency with Windows based computer programs; excellent communication skills; problem solving ability; good customer service and critical thinking skills
