Department Information The School of Arts and Letters invites applicants for an Assistant Professor or Lecturer of Music position to support the Performance track of its innovative BA in Contemporary Musicianship. The BA in Contemporary Musicianship also has degree programs in Applied Art & Design, New Media & Communication, English, History, Modern Language, and Interdisciplinary Studies.

Responsibilities The position involves teaching a 4/4 course load (to include applied studio), scholarship, student advisement, and service. Occasional travel between campuses (Cochran, Dublin, Macon, and Warner Robins) is expected. Teaching responsibilities may include day and/or evening classes, online and/or hybrid courses.

Required Qualifications
    Master’s degree in Music for appointment as lecturer; a Doctorate for appointment as Assistant Professor. Interest in and commitment to supporting a young and innovative music program that includes an industry track.Significant creative practice and teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: gospel, jazz, diverse commercial genres, applied voice (Classical and Contemporary Commercial). Ability to teach courses in the music core such as Music Theory and/or Music History. Ability to direct one or more music ensembles (percussion, jazz, university band, chamber choir, and/or winds). Commitment to and experience in classical and non-classical music forms. Student-centered approach to teaching with a strong commitment to engagement. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues. Strong communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills.

    Ability to support development of music technology / music industry programming.
