General Description

The Assistant Director of Constituent Engagement is part of the development team responsible for implementing programs that will contribute to building the pipeline of donors. This position will report to the Director of Alumni Relations and Constituent Engagement and assist with planning activities that will increase alumni, parent and donor engagement with CTY and one another. The Assistant Director will be involved in most aspects of constituent engagement planning and be the project leader for many of the initiatives.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of all constituent activities that support building an alumni and parent donor pipeline including events (CTY alumni speaker series, industry-based programming, alumni networking events, etc), volunteer opportunities, and incentive or benefits programs.
  • Manage program registration, marketing, and post-engagement communication for constituent activities.
  • Work closely with other CTY departments to identify opportunities to collaborate on existing programs and engagement initiatives.
  • Assist with implementing CTY's strategies for building a strong and active alumni community, primarily through social media initiatives. Monitor membership and stay up to date on new methods and evolving technologies.
  • Research and explore ways to integrate social media into business strategies and marketing campaigns.
  • Responsible for the content and maintenance of the alumni section on the CTY website and the sharing of alumni news and activity through social media in conjunction with the Marketing and Communications team.
  • Manage the CTY alumni email account and provide responses in a timely manner to any communication that comes through.
  • Assist with planning and writing content for the quarterly newsletters and other alumni and donor communication pieces including key fundraising initiatives such as Pi Day, CTY's annual day of giving.
  • Manage and update alumni data for CTY on all databases to ensure alumni records are accurate and complete.
  • Assist with identifying prospective alumni and parent leaders, volunteers, mentors, speakers, and donors through research, events and constituent communities.
  • Manage CTY family trips.
  • Assist with implementing assessment tools to measure and track alumni and donor engagement to determine effectiveness and opportunities for enhancement.
  • Represent the Alumni Relations and Constituent Engagement team at internal (both CTY and JHU) activities, events and meetings when the Director is unavailable.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of two years of related experience in alumni relations, development, social media management, event production or volunteer management preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Event planning experience with small and large groups as well as knowledge of basic budget management for programs and activities.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong communication and project management skills.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new development computer software systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing deadlines and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be skilled at working effectively with diverse constituent groups and senior institutional staff.
  • Ability to work as part of an effective team with a results-oriented approach.
  • May include hours outside of normal working hours and on the weekend.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
