Interview Process

The interview process for this position will consist of three phases. Applicants who complete the application process and meet the position minimum requirements will be invited to interview in phase 1. Candidates will be notified of their status after each phase to confirm if they are moving forward in the selection process.

    Phase 1: 30-minute interview with the search committeePhase 2: 30-minute interview with the search committee (different questions will be asked), 30-minute written exercise; 30-minute presentation with the Office of Finance team and Office of College Advancement team Phase 3: 30-minute interview with the vice president of finance and vice president of college advancement (this phase will occur if you do not engage with the vice president of finance and vice president of college advancement in phase 1 or 2; if you do engage with the vice president of finance and vice president of college advancement in phase 1 or 2, phase 3 will not be necessary)

Job Summary: Manages and oversees financial activities for the HACC Foundation, including gift and pledge processing, creation and maintenance of all financial and fundraising reporting, preparation of financial and statistical reports and coordination of the year-end audit and IRS compliance; reports to the assistance vice president of finance and the vice president of college advancement and is a senior member of the Office of College Advancement team.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 5 years experience, including 2 years supervisory/management experience.*

Job Specific Task List:

  • Leads the Financial and Support Services Department (which is part of the Office of Finance and Office of College Advancement) - (Standard)
  • Directs functions related to accounting, database management, gift processing, research and reporting - (Standard)
  • Directs and maintains chart of accounts and accounting functions. Maintains the accuracy of the separate HACC Foundation chart of accounts, tables and forms within the financial management system. Determines proper classification of each endowment fund - (Standard)
  • Coordinates annual external audit for the HACC Foundation. Verifies and approves all reports, schedules and supporting documentation submitted to external auditors. Directs filing of IRS form 990 by external auditors - (Standard)
  • Supervises four positions to include prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making and recommending hiring, disciplinary and termination decisions - (Standard)
  • Establishes work standards and professional development plans for the department. Evaluates and modifies the standards and plans on a regular basis - (Standard)
  • Prepares monthly HACC Foundation financial statements and supporting schedules for review and presentation to the HACC Foundation Board of Directors. Prepares monthly analysis of investment accounts using data provided by outside investment manager. Maintains a working relationship with the investment manager - (Standard)
  • Manages the budgeting process for HACC Foundation endowments. Develops the annual HACC Foundation operating budget. Reviews and approves purchasing requisitions and invoices for payments related to the HACC Foundation. Plans and administers the department budget - (Standard)
  • Directs memorandum of understanding, report development and financial reporting processes for the HACC Foundation - (Standard)
  • Develops and implements short- and long-term department strategic plans that align with the College and HACC Foundation strategic plans. - (Standard)
  • Directs the assessment process for the department - (Standard)
  • Resolves challenges and issues identified by internal and external auditors - (Standard)
  • Manages cash flow of the HACC Foundation to include preparation of monthly cash flow analysis and recommendations for cash needs and fund transfers to and from investment accounts - (Standard)
  • Attends Office of College Advancement executive team meetings, OCA team meetings and monthly development meetings - (Standard)
  • Prepares and provides oral presentations, reports and analysis as requested - (Standard)
  • Develops and implements procedures and processes for the department to ensure compliance with policy and federal accounting standards - (Standard)
  • Directs internal audits as needed or requested throughout the fiscal year - (Standard)
  • Operates a computer and financial software to gather data and conduct financial analysis - (Essential)
