Odum expands Carolina’s impact by providing education and support for planning, implementing, and disseminating research. We work to advance rigorous and reproducible research across the data, social and health sciences, while building collaborative, trans-disciplinary research networks. Positioned in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, the Institute is funded through state/university appropriations and grants/contracts led by Institute staff.

The Institute is situated within a campus with a continually growing and diverse faculty, staff, and student body. Deeply committed to diversity, the Odum Institute has created a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) committee, and is also pioneering a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Research Certificate (DEIR) program. Applications are encouraged from individuals with a commitment to building a diverse and inclusive organization where members from all backgrounds can live, learn, and thrive together.

Position Summary:

The Qualtrics Consultant and Programmer (QCP) provides Qualtrics technical support to the University including students (undergraduate and graduate), staff, and faculty. QCP offers support in person, via email, and over Zoom. The QCP provides technical support for all aspects of Qualtrics software including programming, complex logic, using advanced features, distribution of surveys, linkages between surveys, embedded data experience, creating reports, and exporting data. The QCP is also hired by staff and faculty to program and distribute Qualtrics surveys for awarded grants, proposals, and internal university initiatives. The QCP will also assist the Assistant Director of Survey Research and Development in preparing cost estimates for survey projects.

As a Brand Administrator, this role administers the Qualtrics license on behalf of The Odum Institute. In this capacity, the QCP works extensively with ITS and the Vice Chancellor for Research’s Office to coordinate responses to license changes, feature additions/removals, and to guide users through purchasing individual features (when requested). The QCP also helps to on-board divisional brand admins in the various schools and colleges on campus.

The QCP handles administrative tasks including, but not limited to, transferring ownership of surveys, establishing groups for collaboration, and accessing user data upon request. Therefore, the QCP must demonstrate the highest regard for privacy and security of data.

The QCP often provides services to individuals who may not have extensive knowledge of the software and therefore the QCP will need to exhibit patience and take the time to fully explain technical aspects and rationale for courses of action.
