The Director for the Multicultural Center serves as a key member of the Vice President for Student Affairs’ Leadership Council, supporting the university’s commitment to Inclusive Student Success. Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Director for the Multicultural Center will cultivate relationships and resources with campus and community partners to foster community support, engagement, and advocacy for historically underrepresented students in higher education.

Responsibilities:

• Create and implement departmental goals, objectives, learning outcomes, policies, and operating procedures for the Multicultural Center
• Lead cross-divisional strategies to foster community support, strategies, programs, and learning opportunities that support the engagement, belonging and development of African American, Latinx, Asian and Native American students (ALANA)
• Develop learning experiences to promote students’ cross-racial engagement, racial learning, and literacy
• Provide leadership for the development of cultural heritage programming calendars and other major programs that support student learning about social justice, diversity, and inclusion
• Partner with Student Transition, Access, and Retention (STAR) departments to support student academic and post-graduate success
• Lead divisional research and assessment efforts focused on campus racial climate, historically underrepresented student’s sense of belonging and student learning related to social justice issues
• Partner with the Director of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Center to support women of color and QTPOC students
• Collaborate with Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Health Outreach, Promotion and Education (HOPE) and other campus partners to cultivate intentional strategies that support the mental health and well-being of underrepresented students.
• Collaborate with campus partners to develop high impact learning experiences for students. Collaborate with University partners to develop pathways to increase the enrollment and success of historically underrepresented students
• Assist the Dean of Students with strategies to support students of concern
• Collaborate with Academic Affairs partners to implement strategic initiatives that support Inclusive Student Success
• Create partnerships with underrepresented students, clubs, and organizations to promote inclusive engagement across campus
• Support Stockton University’s diversity commitment and strong student-centered vision and mission

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Student Affairs/Development, Higher Education, or a related area
• Minimum of five years of experience supporting the transition, retention, and academic achievement of diverse students
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with student affairs, enrollment, or faculty partners to support student learning and success
• An understanding of and deep commitment to social justice and demonstrated cultural competence with strong belief in the value of diversity in enriching the learning experience and the quality of life for students

Preferred Qualifications:

• Earned doctorate in Student Affairs/Higher Education or a related discipline
• Previous professional experience planning, implementing, and assessing programs that build awareness and knowledge to promote social and racial justice
• Demonstrated evidence of knowledge and experience supporting historically underrepresented students and families and/or first-generation
• Strong administrative abilities, including fiscal and budgetary skills, personnel management, organizational change management, and an understanding of technology and database management
