Position Title:Academic Advisor I (13053) Department:655530 - School of Business Job Posting Description:

The School of Business at SIUE is seeking qualified candidates to fill a full-time Academic Advisor I position. The Academic Advisor will meet with prospective and current students to provide accurate and current curricular information on undergraduate programs, assist undergraduates in short-term and long-term academic program planning, and aid with program changes (class drops and adds and major changes). The selected candidate will provide counsel regarding career plans and refer students to other departments and services on campus when appropriate. This position will also perform various administrative tasks which support advising duties and the progression of the student toward graduation such as maintain and manage appropriate academic records.

Additionally, the Academic Advisor will assist in prospective student campus visits and events as well as various retention efforts for undergraduate School of Business programs. The above statements of this job description describe the general duties performed by employees assigned to this position. Other duties in support of the mission of the School of Business may be assigned and the essential functions may be changed or modified as needed to best support student services. The professional responsibilities of this position will necessitate some evening and /or weekend hours.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

-Master's degree in student personnel, higher education, business administration, or a closely related field is required.-Knowledge of college student development, academic advising theory and the college environment.-Knowledge of student support services available to college students.-Ability to demonstrate good communication skills and personal rapport with diverse populations as well as professionally communicate via electronic channels.-Capable of using various computerized student information systems and personal computing software.

Preferred Qualifications:

-One to four years of experience as an Academic Advisor highly preferred.-Experience advising in collegiate-level business education programs and assisting students with adjusting to college-level academic expectations.-Candidates with graduate assistant experience in an area of student affairs will be considered.

FLSA Exemption Status:Exempt Posting Salary:$3,025.45 Monthly/ $36,305 Annual {non-negotiable and based on current contract}. Excellent benefits package.
