St. Edward's University of Austin, TX invites applications for the position of Assistant Director for Alumni Relations. The Assistant Director for Alumni Relations supports the mission of St. Edward's University by enhancing and strengthening the relationship between alumni and the university through comprehensive engagement opportunities, which lead alumni to give their time, talent and treasure. This position is part of the philanthropy relationship officers (PRO) team.

The Assistant Director of Alumni Relations serves as the primary staff liaison for the St. Edward's University Alumni Association. They provide administrative and event support for alumni engagement initiatives with specific focus on chapter, regional and affinity programs that enhance and strengthen the relationship between alumni, parents, and friends of the university. This includes overseeing multiple projects simultaneously; and maintaining positive and productive relationships with alumni, faculty/staff, donors, parents, and the Alumni Board.

For consideration, Bachelor's degree is required. Three years of alumni relations, customer service, development experience or comparable relationship building experience with a demonstrated history of volunteer management, planning and implementing events and developing and enhancing chapter/regional programs. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, required. Experience in social media, web-design and email and print communication required. Experience in cultivating, training, motivating and leading regional and chapter volunteers Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience with direct, regular and on-going interaction with alumni, parents, and friends of the university. Ideally, experience in fund-raising engagement plans. Familiarity with university athletics programs Understanding and appreciation for private Catholic higher education. Ability to participate in a collaborative environment and facilitate relationships with all areas of the University community. Experience using Microsoft Office and database software programs is required. Some evening and weekend work required.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Manage the St. Edward's University Alumni Association, including the Alumni Association Board of Directors, Chapters and regional structure, creating and implementing plans to achieve annual goals.
  • Manage multiple aspects of Alumni Relations events: supporting logistics, registration, tracking attendance, pre and post event communications.
  • Serve on advancement department cross-functional teams including communications and virtual events.
  • Develop and sustain a best-in-class Alumni Association by managing and implementing best practices in the areas of strategic planning, governance, volunteer and leadership recruitment and event planning.
  • Collaborate with the Donor Acquisition and Retention Team in managing volunteer peer fundraisers and promoting annual fundraising initiatives to alumni.
  • Work with athletics, admissions, and Career and Professional Development on specific initiatives that engage alumni and support the priorities in Strategic Plan 2027.
  • Recruit and engage alumni volunteers to give their time, talent and treasure to support St. Edward's University mission, Strategic Plan 2027 and campus partners.
  • Manage the development, coordination and stewardship of key alumni volunteer initiatives for the Alumni Relations area.
  • Maintain and update alumni information in the database and work closely with Advancement Services. Track alumni engagement including event attendance, volunteer activities.
  • Coordinates communication with the constituent relations team to keep alumni informed, involved and invested in St. Edward's University through email, social media (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) and website.
  • Respond to alumni inquiries that are received by email, phone or social media.
  • Attend events related to cultivating, soliciting and stewarding alumni and donors, including signature events hosted by the division such as Homecoming and Presidential Receptions as well as Alumni Association activities.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.
