The University of Illinois Chicago,  Office of Vice Chancellor for Advancement (OVCA) is seeking an Assistnat Director of Alumni Relations. Reporting to the Director of Alumni Engagement, the Assistant Director, Alumni Affinity Programs, must be an energetic, positive, articulate self-starter whose primary responsibility is to identify, manage and support affinity group programming for the UIC Alumni Association (UICAA). As Chicago’s largest and most diverse university, UIC is comprised of alumni from a variety of racial, ethnic, and class backgrounds, gender identities, sexual orientations and abilities. 

This position also manages one of the primary Alumni Board Committees that focuses on broad outreach programming to the over 319,000 UIC alumni.  Dedicated to fostering strong ties between UIC and its alumni population, this position develops and promotes alumni programming that supports the mission of UIC. This position sits within the UICAA and is a function of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Advancement (OVCA).

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

Responsible for the management, growth and support of the UICAA Affinity Network program.  Affinity is defined as a group of alumni most closely linked by common interest or purpose. Affinities can include, but are not limited to, geography, college, unit, athletic team or special interest group (Greek life, employees, cultural, ethnic, veterans, etc.).

Identify new alumni affinity-based segments as key populations for volunteer engagement, focused alumni activities and programs with the goal of establishing official Affinity Networks.
Collaborates and partners with campus offices to build strategic partnerships to advance Affinity Network initiatives.

Provide volunteer support for Affinity Group success.  This includes, but is not limited to, developing outreach/marketing plans to recruit alumni, and creating a yearly calendar of meetings, events and communications (including UIC Connected) to support affinity group efforts.   
Facilitate and lead the recruiting, training, motivation, and leadership succession of volunteers who are necessary and vital participants in the implementation of the goals and activities of Affinity programs.

In conjunction with volunteer leaders, set annual goals for Affinity Networks and provide support to ensure objectives are met.  Ensure annual reports are filed. 

Develop content and curriculum for volunteer trainings, programs and resources. 
Under the direction of the Director of Alumni Engagement, manage and engage a UICAA Alumni Board committee dedicated to creating and assessing programming for the broad UIC alumni population.

Board committee management includes, but is not limited to, setting annual goals, helping set agendas, managing meeting flow, and working with the Committee Chair to drive progress forward. 
Assist in various volunteer engagement initiatives including UIC Connected online mentoring platform, University and college-based opportunities and special events (virtual and in-person). 

Represents UIC, OVCA and the Alumni Association at alumni meetings and other University functions as necessary.

Using the constituent database, track alumni and friends’ interest and participation in engagement opportunities in order to create a highly engaged and connected community of individuals to advance the mission of UIC and the UICAA. 

May manage and/or coordinate the work assignments of student workers, other administrative staff, assistants, and staff when working on projects.

Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
