Description:
Reporting to the Director of Student Financial Services, the Student Financial Services Counselor provides personalized financial services assistance to Hofstra students and families.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Counsels students and parents concerning financial aid, bills, and payment.
• Evaluates applications including performing needs analysis and determining eligibility for federal, state, and University awards.
• Processes student account information and assists with outreach efforts both on campus and in the community, including high school night presentations.
• Other related duties as assigned.

This position requires some evening and weekend events, both in person and virtual.

Candidates must be willing and able to organize and handle all aspects of administration and adhere to rules and regulations of Hofstra University, the Colonial Athletic Conference, and the NCAA.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Strong interpersonal, administrative, and oral and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of PC based word processing and spreadsheets.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with computerized financial aid systems, especially Ellucian Banner.
• Knowledge of college financial aid and/or college student account processes.
