POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Academic Director, Professional Programs, the Associate Director, MScAC Administration leads the administration of the MScAC program, including oversight of the student recruitment, program support, student services, marketing & communications, and finance portfolios, and is the primary contact for all matters relating to students. The role is involved with all aspects of strategic program management, design, and development.

The Associate Director, MScAC Administration is responsible for developing and executing on the program’s overarching marketing, communications, and recruitment strategies and initiatives, as well as supporting internal and external relations efforts. The position also oversees all administrative functions related to the program, including finance, communications, space and facilities, and program management.

Key responsibilities include: developing, recommending, and implementing short and long-term strategies and initiatives to address and support the program’s business goals, as they pertain to student recruitment, student services, and alumni relations; overseeing a process of continuous improvement in professional program services design and delivery; directing the marketing, promotion, and communications strategies for all program activities and ensuring all are effectively directed to external constituencies and academic communities, all to raise the profile and reputation of the program internationally; developing and managing budgets for the program, including the operating budget, bursaries, and funds from external sources; developing strategies to increase revenue generation; overseeing facilities, equipment, and space management for the program; providing full managerial authority over the staff in the work unit.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and management experience. A Master’s Degree preferred in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering (or related).

Experience:

    5-7 years progressive experience at an intermediate to senior administrative level providing strategic oversight for a professional program, preferably for a professional master’s program in Computer Science, Statistics, or Mathematics.

    Experience building and developing effective administrative systems and processes.

    Experience in student services in a post-secondary environment, including experience resolving complex matters related to students.

    Experience developing and managing program budgets.

    Experience creating marketing, communications, and outreach strategies, and acting as a spokesperson with the media.

    Experience in sophisticated data collection, management, and analysis to drive strategic program management and growth.

    Proven experience building and maintaining relationships with partners of strategic importance.

    Demonstrated experience managing and leading staff, preferably in a unionized environment.

    Experience working with and interpreting policies and procedures pertaining to budget, finance, human resources, and academic administration.

    Familiarity with the University of Toronto community and its policies and procedures, or an understanding of the complexity of a comparable academic environment will be a definite asset.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of recruitment trends and competitors in the Computer Science professional program field.

Skills:

  • Excellent analytical and financial skills, with the ability to interpret and apply information and provide financial and data analysis.

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), SharePoint, and content management systems.

Other:

  • Demonstrated judgement and decision-making employing both tact and negotiation skills.

  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability within a changing environment.

  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to foster confidence and motivation in staff and to develop cooperative, collegial working relationships.

  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and a variety of complex projects simultaneously; excellent time management and organizational skills; proven effectiveness in the development of administrative systems.

  • Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary environment.

  • Ability to make sound independent decisions under pressure and in response to changing priorities.
