Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:45 pm

Job Summary: The Business Services Consultant provides advising services of research, counseling, and training to external business clients.

Additional Department Summary: The Business Services Consultant, Alabama Entrepreneurship Institute and The EDGE, will be responsible for sales and business development, obtaining sponsors for the program and also helping recruit members and partners for various initiatives. The individual also will help run some of the programs offered by AEI as well as meet with tenants and entrepreneurs. This individual reports to the Executive Director AEI.

Major responsibilities include: Sales, business development and new program implementation - This individual will help assure a pipeline of sponsors of AEI and The EDGE as well as co-working members and tenants at the EDGE.

Program management and development - This individual will help run or be part of various programs that are offered by AEI and The EDGE.

Business coaching - The individual in this role also provides coaching to both student and community entrepreneurship teams and individuals.

Managing and implementing some of the technology being used by AEI and The EDGE - AEI and The EDGE use several technology platforms to manage the educational and ongoing management of the building and projects. The individual in this role helps manage the technology platforms and helps implement new tools.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree and three (3) years of sales, business counseling or consulting experience, to include at least two (2) years of experience focusing on entrepreneurship; OR Bachelor's degree and (5) years of sales, business counseling or consulting experience, to include at least two (2) years of experience focusing on entrepreneurship.

Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies.

Skills and Knowledge: Effective oral and written communication skills are required to establish a rapport with the small business community and senior executives in larger organizations, promote the Institute’s services, and be an effective consultant. Knowledge of project management process is essential. Must possess familiarity with computers and computer applications as well as the use of project management tools. Effective public speaking skills and ability to present new ideas and information to students and company executives. In-state travel and some out of state travel needed. It is important that the person in this role can work in an agile, high-change entrepreneurial environment. Individual in this role must be able to work during weekends and non-traditional work hours due to involvement in events and managing a facility that operates 24x7. Also, it is expected that the individual in this job will check emails and phone calls during off hours.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field (Sociology, Psychology or other behavioral science degree). At least three (3) years of sales, business counseling or consulting work to include at least three (3) years of experience focusing on entrepreneurship.
