Job Description

Counsels prospective first-year or transfer students regarding university admissions policies and procedures. Represents the university at recruitment events. Provides consistent and timely communication to prospective students, parents, and community college/high school partners via multiple methods of communication. Works collaboratively with colleagues to efficiently assist students throughout the throughout the recruitment cycle. Candidate must have ability to work across all student populations (primarily first-year and transfer students). Team needs and candidate experience will determine recruitment population assigned.

Typically works Monday-Friday; 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Work beyond normal hours to include evenings and weekends is required. Extensive travel required during peak recruitment months/season.


Responsibilities:

  • Counsels prospective undergraduate students on all aspects of the admissions process within assigned recruitment territories

  • Communicate with students, parents, high school counselors, community colleges regarding admission materials needed throughout the enrollment process

  • Represents the university at regional recruitment events, high school visits, community college visits, military installations, transfer fairs, college fairs, and other college recruitment events

  • Develops and implements the recruitment plan including scheduling, executing, and reporting of all recruitment activities for assigned territories

  • Works collaboratively with on and off-campus partners in order to further the mission of the Office of Admissions. This may include, but is not limited to, collaborating with academic departments, assisting with financial aid workshops, campus tours, athletics, and military student recruitment programming to increase new student enrollment

  • Documents and provides reports related to recruitment activities on a weekly basis and as requested

  • Utilize and continuously monitor data reports strategically to reach individual territory and office’s application, admit, and enrollment goals

  • Maintains high level of knowledge of university applications such as Banner and Customer Relationship Management System (CRM) to effectively assist in resolving inquiries

  • Performs preliminary degree evaluations of transfer college credits for incoming students

  • Follows directives regarding strategic planning and recruitment strategies

  • Provides internal and external customer service through: timely communication; follow through leading to results; and generating solutions to assist prospective students, families, and campus partners

  • Assist with training of new admissions counselors within the Office of Admissions as needed

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • One (1) year of related experience in admissions, student recruiting, higher education, or customer service/sales

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Education, Communications, or Business/Marketing

  • Documented excellence in a professional role, dealing one-on-one with people on a daily basis in a dynamic service-oriented environment

  • Experience with Banner Student Information System and/or Customer Relations Management Software

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to travel for recruitment purposes

  • Ability to work irregular hours during scheduled times, including occasional weekends as needed

  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and in personal computers

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively with diverse populations in a positive, courteous, and professional manner

  • Strong customer service and public presentation skills

  • Ability to compile and analyze data for business operations

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, initiate, and organize event.
