Occ Summary

Plan and provide advanced and/or specialized nursing care for patients Board of Nursing. in accordance with guidelines established within the Discipline of Nursing Clinical Ladder Program; participate in educational activities, departmental committees, research projects or other health related projects as assigned. Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina

Work Performed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

SHIFT: Flexible shift CHOICES (8-hour, 10-hour, OR 12-hour shifts per week) with 70-80 hours every two weeks flexible arrangement; start times ranging from 5:30am-6:30am - Monday to Friday; weekends and holidays per unit requirements

Level Characteristics

The Clinical Nurse III provides leadership at the unit level. The CNIII independently and creatively implements the nursing process for individual patients and identifies needs and plans care for unit patient populations. The CNIII is positive during changes and supports growth of peers. The CNIII is ableto effectively communicate with all members of the health care team.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN program. Exception: Registered nurses hired between July1, 2014 and April 11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are expected to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the program within five years of their start date. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014 are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this job classification.

Experience

Requires two years of appropriate clinical experience. In addition to the education and experience noted above, applicants must meet all requirements set forth by the Nursing Clinical Ladder Program for the level III.

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.

Duke University was created in 1924 by James Buchanan Duke as a memorial to his father, Washington Duke. The Dukes, a Durham family that built a worldwide financial empire in the manufacture of tobacco products and developed electricity production in the Carolinas, long had been interested in Trinity College. Trinity traced its roots to 1838 in nearby Randolph County when local Methodist and Quaker communities opened Union Institute. The school, then named Trinity College, moved to Durham in 1892, where Benjamin Newton Duke served as a primary benefactor and link with the Duke family until his death in 1929. In December 1924, the provisions of indenture by Benjamin’s brother, James B. Duke, created the family philanthropic foundation, The Duke Endowment, which provided for the expansion of Trinity College into Duke University.Duke Campus
