Rate of Pay:

This position is a grade 15 with a minimum of $56,925. Salary offer will be commensurate with the education/experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy,  and the current CBA, if applicable.

Job Summary:

An employee in this classification performs work of moderate difficulty by providing leadership to the Testing Services department . Work is distinguished by the ability to ensure compliance and effective workflow while collaborating across campus and general public to develop, and implement assessment framework based on student learning outcomes and key performance indicators. General direction is received by the assigned supervisor.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in education, computers, statistics, math, or relevant field, with three Three (3) years of experience working in the field of testing with a thorough understanding of testing procedures, test administration, tracking, scoring and interpretation, preferably in community college testing that offers a variety of paper-based and computer based tests, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Considerable knowledge of the of the application of technology to deliver testing services, including placement tests and proctoring.
  3. Considerable skills to respect and handle confidential information and test security at all times.
  4. Considerable skills in troubleshooting technical issues, research, and maintain records and reports.
  5. Considerable skills in developing and managing departmental budgets.
  6. Considerable skills in critical-thinking, analytical and problem solving
  7. Considerable interpersonal, verbal, presentation and written communications skills with the ability to communicate and interact with all levels of staff, faculty, administration and stakeholders in a diverse community.
  8. Working skill in interpersonal interaction to be applied to a variety of individuals with differing education, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
  9. Considerable skill in organizing work to meet established deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  10. Considerable skills in operating a personal computer, applicable software and peripheral equipment as well as learning and adapting to new and updated programs and technology.
  11. Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 

Essential Duties:

  1. Overseeing the day-to-day processing of testing functions to achieve maximum customer service while ensuring efficient and effective workflow, including supervision, training, and development of staff, set department goals and oversee budget.
  2. Manage the implementation of testing processes related to the student system modules, including problem solving, user testing and enhancements
  3. Develop, direct, and implement procedures for the administration of all testing activities. Maintain appropriate manuals for various testing procedures and testing software whether paper based or computer based. Read various testing or technical manuals to complete proctor certification as required by test providers. Ensure testing information website, brochures, flyers, handouts, forms, needed for staff, and students are accurate.
  4. Create, collect, maintain, and provide reports on operational data for testing departments to supervisor and other departments or colleges. Provide advice, research, testing consultation, tracking, and SIS configuration.
  5. Collaborate with IR, College Alliance, Registration, Records, Admissions, Academic Advising, and faculty on test selection, implementation, and distribution. Interact and network with other colleges, sites, list-serves, soliciting, and providing test-related information (organization, procedures, testing instruments, testing personnel, software, technology, research, etc.)
  6. Identifies and resolves employee relations and performance issues.
  7. Provides appropriate leadership and direction and promotes positive morale, creativity and teamwork among staff.
  8. Evaluates employee performance and sets clear goals and expectations
  9. Maintains required training, licensure and/or certifications
  10. Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to applicable privacy laws
  11. Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse populations within the workplace.
  12. Maintains an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide backup and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work.
  13. Demonstrates independent judgment and discretion in making position related decisions.

Satelitte Campuses: ECC holds classes throughout the northwest suburbs at off-campus locations scattered across the district.
