Job Overview

The Manager of Accounts Payable is responsible for all the critical functions related to provision of front-line customer service in the Customer Services Division of the Accounts Payable department. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Supervision of a team of 3 junior Accounts Payable analysts, performing the functions of: a) Invoice preparation, processing and approval. B) Expense report preparation, processing, and approval, and C) timely and accurate response to customer service inquiries from suppliers and internal contacts regarding invoice processing and payment status
  • Cancellation of checks, stop payments, corrections, voids, and reissuance of payment
  • Payment settlement and printing checks
  • Providing guidance, direction, and support to the four (4) senior Accounts Payable analysts
  • Supporting Procurement and Cost Center managers, and analysts in Treasury, Tax, and Strategic Sourcing in assuring a complete procure-to-pay operation.


Work Interactions

Reporting to the Director of Accounts Payable, the Manager supervises a team of 3 junior accounts payable analysts. They interact with a broad set of University stakeholders, across numerous campuses and business functions - for example:
  • One-on-one discussions with suppliers and internal stakeholders to facilitate payment processing
  • One-on-one and small group presentations to University financial managers to provide updates on progress, solicit input and discuss options
  • They provide direct and critical support to the Treasury, Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, and Tax departments


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in a finance, accounting, or business operation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills


Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree
  • Experience in a higher education environment
  • Experience with the Workday financials system
