This position is a remote offered role with the possibility for in-person hybrid arrangements, if so desired by the candidate.

The Divisions of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and Pediatric Pulmonary, Sleep, and Asthma Medicine are seeking Communications Manager to manage internal and external communications. The Communications Manager will manage all aspects of a communications program, including building, cultivating, advocating for, responding to, monitoring, and growing a digital community on behalf of two expanding academic medical Divisions at Stanford University School of Medicine.

The Communications Manager will represent communications for the Center for Excellence in Pulmonary Biology (a program that has been ranked as number 6 in the country by US News and World Report), as well as two academic Divisions. The ideal candidate is expected to intuitively translate incoming requests and indirect requirements into achievable goals, while anticipating future needs. The Communications Manager will design and implement all aspects of communication, including internal communications/newsletter, and our external communications. This role will partner with hospital marketing teams, and a large external audience.

We are a growing team including long-tenured faculty, staff, and leadership. The Division activities reach all parts of the mission: patient care, education, and research. The Communications Manager will have a great deal of exposure to all these areas and will be communicating with a broad range of individuals at the Executive level, internally and externally. Within the Divisions and Center, there is a strong operations team of about 15 people. The Communications Manager will lead communications, marketing and digital media functions to support recruitment, fundraising, and program elevation. This position will manage the communications budget. This position will also be part of the Department of Pediatrics, the second largest Department in the School. Duties include:
  • Produce and curate digital content to engage users, increase user base, and grow channels. Optimize content delivery strategies; build content topics, tailor content to outlet platform, target specific audiences, and make editorial decisions.
  • Strategize to build and grow digital community through social media channels, paid advertising campaigns, blogs, and the web.
  • Manage social listening efforts based on comments and online conversations. Respond to reputation risks by taking appropriate action and recommend solutions to minimize harm.
  • Compile data, analyze and report on social media use. Analyze how content is performing and create reports with recommendations to management.
  • Build support for social initiatives among internal stakeholders by acting as internal advocate for digital community efforts, building support and driving digital best practices.
  • Contribute to overall development and refinement of digital community strategy, and innovative social initiatives by proposing and implementing recommendations.
  • Provide customer service to constituents across digital channels; Represent organization to constituents, campus, media
  • Manage internal and external newsletters and email blasts
  • Support event communications
  • Develop websites and/or manage outside vendors to create new websites

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

Bachelor's degree and minimum I year of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build lasting relationships and strong communities; customer focus.
  • Knowledge of the web, technology, social platforms, current and future h
  • ends.
  • Highly organized and creative.
