Job Description

The Enrollment Management Team works in a dynamic environment which requires dedicated professionals to engage, excite, and enroll qualified students to the University to help meet enrollment goals and support NAU 2025, our strategic roadmap. The Family Access, Communication, Transition and Support (FACTS) Program is a new program to build strong communication and relationships with precollege parents (grades 8-12) while working collaboratively across university divisions to successfully transition students and families. The Program Director will serve as the lead for the university precollege parent outreach, program development, assessment and data collection, resource and budget management, identifying campus resources to strengthen program outcomes and assure effectiveness.

Program Oversight - 60%

  • Cultivates and manages precollege parent program including research, design, development, planning, and facilitation of a multi-channel, comprehensive program for parents of eighth through twelfth grades.
  • Develop, create, implementation and growth of the FACTS program curriculum, including collaborating with a number of campus teams including Student Affairs, University Marketing, and Enrollment Management.
  • FACTS curriculum will include bilingual, in-person, virtual, printed resources, and buildout of a parent portal technology tool.
  • Oversee all aspects of FACTS once developed including operations, budget and quality management, and goal alignment with NAU 2025.
  • Coordinate programing efforts to ensure the broadest reach of Arizona families and with other University family initiatives.
  • Researches, develops and facilitates job related training sessions for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs teams, and to help educate and support their work and the work of the FACTS Program.
  • Collaborates with functional and subject area experts within and out of Enrollment Management in the development of relationships and training materials and policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates program effectiveness, assesses outcomes, and develops improved programming to achieve goals, complete cost analyses for programs/events.
  • Collects and analyzes data to determine effectiveness of program.

Outreach and Relationship Building - 20%

  • Establish a FACTS Advisory Team of on- and off-campus stakeholders to inform best practice, strong collaboration, and consult on an incentive/scholarship awarding program for participants.
  • Develop communication plans and maintaining a database of parents in SalesForce CRM tool.
  • Collaborate with Recruitment, Scholarships and Financial Aid, and Student Affairs teams to maximize program effectiveness.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains relationships with high school personnel to help facilitate the engagement of families with the University. This will include collaboration with the Communications Team, Scholarships and Financial Aid team, Orientation, Dean of Students, NAU Foundation and University Marketing.
  • Counsel, guide, and advise prospective students and families in the completion of complex admission and financial aid forms, admission requirements, transfer guidelines, cost of attendance, financial aid programs, and various other student and enrollment related services, programs, and opportunities.
  • Interprets university policies and recommends changes to policies and/or procedures in regard to parent relations.
  • Assists with the execution of Family Orientation programming to enroll and transition new students and families to the University.

Supervision - 15%

  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise a Student Development Coordinator, Senior that dual/primarily reports to the Assistant Dean of Students, Parent and Family Services.
  • Collaborates with the Enrollment Leadership Team and participating in strategic outreach and decisions.
  • Assists with the execution of on-campus visit programs as needed, including but not limited to Discover NAU, Explore Honors Day, Multicultural Recruitment Programs, and transfer student programming.
  • Provides presentations to parents at on-campus and off-campus events.

Other - 5%

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required and five years of related professional experience.
  • Three years of program management experience.
  • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
    Master’s degree in education, business, or other related field.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    Knowledge of admission and financial aid practices in higher education.The ability to work effectively with prospective students, continuing students, parents, alumni, other university administrators and faculty, high school administrators, faculty and counselors.A broad understanding of regional and national issues pertaining to higher education, as well as an appreciation for the value that higher education provides for individuals and society.Knowledge of budgeting and accounting principles. Knowledge of SalesForce CRM, PeopleSoft Student Information System, Business Objects and Enterprise Reporting tools, Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint, Keynote, and Prezi.Knowledge of organizational development and management best practices. Demonstrated skill set in the coordination of projects and programs. Skill in problem solving and decision making.Demonstrated skill to prioritize individual work tasks, but also to assist supervisees in prioritizing work tasks.Demonstrated skill in both verbal and written communication.Skill in establishing and maintaining effective and productive working relationships with on-campus and off-campus partners.Skill in program development and execution.Exercises good judgment and professionalism.Strong organizational and training/human development skills.Ability to work with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Background Information

This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting. Finally, each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities. Salary

Salary range begins at $72,445. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.


FLSA Status

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.


Benefits

This is a Service Professional (SPF) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System or the Optional Retirement Program; 22 days of vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents. More information on benefits at NAU is available on the Human Resources benefits website. NAU is a tobacco and smoke-free campus. Service Professionals are hired on a contract basis, renewable each 6 months according to terms of the Conditions of Professional Service. Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan). New employees are eligible for benefits on the first day of the pay period following their enrollment, after their employment date. Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in benefits. If a new employee chooses the ASRS retirement option, participation in the Arizona State Retirement System, and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it, will begin on the first of the pay period following 6 months after the new employee's start date. New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP), which is an alternative to the ASRS plan for faculty and other appointed staff, will begin to participate on the first day of employment. Additionally, the long-term disability plan that accompanies the ORP will begin on the first day of employment.
