Butler University seeks a dynamic, engaging, collaborative leader to serve as the Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life. The Director will provide leadership for ensuring a robust, transformative living and learning experience for members of the Greek community. This collaborative change agent reports to the Dean of Students, and will work with Greek leaders, chapter advisors, housing corporations, alumni and campus partners to ensure a strong network of support to enhance student learning, safety, leadership and success through BU|BeWell, the Butler student experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide hands- on advising for fraternity and sorority leaders through an innovative and personalized experience- based approach that includes mentoring, monthly leadership roundtables, and other initiatives.
  • Advance BU|BeWell through programs and services that promote a holistic student experience for sorority and fraternity members.
  • Ensure Greek programs, services, and facilities are compliant with any applicable legal, compliance, environmental policies and/or mandates from governing bodies.
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive risk management program for Butler fraternity and sorority chapters. Engage in policy and procedure development, implementation and decision-making that minimizes risk to students and the institution.
  • Manage the officer transition, annual recertification, social and philanthropic registration, billing process, and data collection for existing fraternities and sororities.
  • Serve as the primary advisor for Panhellenic, Interfraternity Council, NPHC and Order of Omega organizations overseeing formal recruitment, intake events and other annual programs requiring collaborative teams (e.g. Homecoming, induction ceremonies, member development programming, late night events, as well as scholarship, service/philanthropy, and leadership programs).
  • Collaborate with the Dean of Students office, Office of Residence Life and BU Police to provide direct crisis response and support to chapters and students.
  • Manage the Fraternity and Sorority Life budget and assist the Dean of Students with broader budget development and management as directed; identify and implement a strategic plan including action items, key performance indicators, retention initiatives, and the incorporation of University learning outcomes; and coordinate the evaluation and assessment of designated departmental programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A masters degree in student affairs, higher education, or related field
  • 3-5 years relevant experience
  • The successful candidate should be a collaborative and innovative leader with a passionate commitment to Sorority and Fraternity Life at a small private institution.
