Summary:

  • Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Building Operations, supervises and oversees the setups and logistics of the Student Center meeting rooms; supports building technology and events; and participates in the development and implementation of program or unit goals, policies and procedures; does related work as required. The Student Center has multiple meeting spaces that are consistently used by student organizations, departments and external groups that require the attention of a staff to turn over the rooms and make sure they are ready for an event.

Examples of Work:

  • Coordinate the daily event logistics, turnovers, and room cleanliness for all events that take place in the Student Center.
  • Supervise a student building operations crew, which includes assigning and monitoring tasks.
  • Performs varied simple and moderately physically strenuous tasks involved in setting up and breaking down tables, chairs, and stage pieces weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Provides building technology support for events that take place in the Student Center.
  • Establishes and maintains liaison and cooperative working relationships with Event Services, Maintenance, and external clients to ensure that all event needs are met efficiently and correct.
  • Maintain and update equipment inventory for all equipment related to event spaces.
  • Attends and participates in meetings and events related to assigned responsibilities.
  • May be required to learn to utilize the type of electronic and/or manual recording information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
  • Mets weekly with our Event Services team to ensure all needs are being met.
  • Schedules use of, sets up and maintains equipment; performs experiments and demonstrations.
  • Communicate any last-minute changes or cancelations to events to the proper staff members in the Student Center.
  • Enforce and document policy infractions that take place in the Student Center and communicate them to the proper employees.
  • Education Requirement:

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree.

    Experience Requirement:

    One (1) year of professional experience in building and property management and operations.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in student center operations and/or event logistics.
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques essential to performance of assigned responsibilities.
  • Previous experience with student staff supervision.
  • Knowledge of college policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish liaison and maintain cooperative working relationships with student organizations, departments and external clients.
  • Ability to organize and assign work, analyze problems, and develop appropriate work methods.
  • Ability to assist in the development and implementation of training programs.
  • Work Hours (Please note that the currently listed shift and availability are subject to change to meet operational needs of the department)

  • Monday through Friday, 10:00am-6:00pm
  • Salary:

    • Range P16 ($45,521-$47,579)

    Rowan University, located a half-hour outside of Philadelphia with its main campus in suburban Glassboro, N.J., is an institution on the move.

    This summer, the University opened Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) in partnership with Cooper University Health Care, in Camden. The first new four-year, M.D.-granting medical school in New Jersey in more than 35 years, CMSRU welcomed its first class in August 2012.

    Rowan continues to work with the Borough of Glassboro and private developers on Rowan Boulevard, a $300 million redevelopment project that links the University’s main campus to the historic downtown. This fall alone, the partners broke ground for a new academic building/parking garage and a Marriott Courtyard Hotel. Rowan Boulevard already includes a Barnes & Noble Collegiate Superstore, housing for approximately 1,300 students and retail space.

    The University also recently created a School of Biomedical Sciences, which joins nine colleges. In addition to CMSRU they are: the Rohrer College of Business, Communication & Creative Arts, Education, Engineering, Graduate & Continuing Education, Humanities & Social Sciences, Performing Arts, and Science & Mathematics.

    Earlier in 2012, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie awarded Rowan state research institution status (not Carnegie classification) as part of the New Jersey Medical and Health Science Education Restructuring Act, making Rowan only the second comprehensive public research institution in the State. That Act also opened the door to Rowan partnering with Rutgers-Camden to create a College of Health Sciences in Camden near CMSRU. The vision for that College calls for schools of medicine, nursing, pharmacy, public health, food science and 16 allied health programs. The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey’s School of Osteopathic Medicine in nearby Stratford, N.J., is to become part of Rowan in the near future. When that occurs, Rowan will be only the second school in the nation with M.D. and D.O. medical programs.
