Job Details

The Instructor of Welding Technology is responsible for the instruction of Welding Technology students in the didactic, skills lab, and clinical arenas. Providing a quality education for program students and performing instructional-related duties and responsibilities in accordance with the philosophy, mission, policies and procedures of the college. Serving as a teacher, mentor, and facilitator of learning. This is a part-time position, working evenings and weekends. This position will not exceed 20 hours a week.

DUTIES

  1. Teaches assigned Welding courses and maintains written instructional standards; facilitates instruction using alternative delivery methods as needed; informs students in writing of instructional standards; participates in the assessment of student learning outcomes; establishes, maintains and submits accurate student and instructional records in a timely manner.
  2. Collaborates in the development of new courses, curriculum, instructional materials, and evaluation tools; reviews and updates course outlines, and textbooks, for Welding courses; assists with the preparation of course proposals, curriculum updates.
  3. Participates in Welding course scheduling, department, division, and college meetings.
  4. Participates in Welding program orientations.
  5. Performs other duties, as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalency, Associate degree in a related field preferred. 
  • Minimum of (3) years’ on-the-job work experience as a welder or metal fabricator 
  • ASE Certifications in the various welding processes
  • Knowledge of Pre-Apprenticeship and Apprenticeship models preferred
  • Teaching experience preferred
  • Valid driver's license, which is currently in good standing
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with variable hours, includes evenings and possible weekends.
  • Possess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners
  • Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment.
