Summary of position 

Reporting to the Associate Director of Instructional Design for Online and Digital Education the incumbent works collaboratively with instructional designers and Multimedia Specialists to build courses for Temple University students in our Learning Management System (LMS), Canvas. This position ensures consistency of course presentation by following course development guidelines, providing consistent content entry and abiding by all ADA-based accessibility guidelines. The incumbent will also be responsible for assisting multimedia specialists with creating course-related content. The candidate is also required to provide faculty with technical support related to the University’s online LMS and course-related multimedia content. Facility with learning and using web-based applications is expected in this role.   

The Junior Instructional Technologist requires excellent organizational skills, flexibility, strong interpersonal skills, outstanding communication skills, ability to work independently, strong attention to detail and the ability to work with a diverse faculty across a wide range of disciplines.  

The Office of Digital Education (ODE) is part of University College. University College supports three regional campuses, including a robust conference center business, non-credit, summer, pre-college, and academic offerings, including the Bachelor of General Studies program and the UG Certificate in Sustainability.

Required Education & Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience using course authoring tools and proficiency with various LMS systems. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 

Preferred:  

* Experience in higher education preferred.  

* Experience working in a technology-driven environment preferred.  

Required Skills & Abilities: 

* Proficient with Microsoft Word and other applications in the Microsoft Office suite.   

* Experience with learning management system, such as Canvas 

* Experience developing multimedia content.  

* Technical experience working with online Learning Management Systems, preferably Canvas.  

* Basic knowledge and experience working with HTML and CSS required.  

* Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.  

* Ability to work in a collaborative technology-driven organization  

* Experience in learning and adapting online technologies.  

* Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and to work with production schedules, deadlines and deliverables.  

* Ability to be detail oriented and to ensure accuracy in course content.  

* Ability to communicate online including email, videoconferencing, and other technology based on communication media.  

* Knowledge of ADA standards for online course delivery.   

* Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, especially Premiere, Illustrator, and After Effects, preferred.  

* Knowledge of multimedia production workflows and content creation preferred.  

This position may be temporarily assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
