Description
The Cook III will provide support to the Piedmont North Dining Hall at Georgia State University.  The individual will oversee food quality and organization of stations.  Inspect and assist in maintaining food storage areas to reduce food waste and makes sure areas are following health code guidelines.  The Cook III will maintain a high degree of pace and intensity for long periods of time and strong time awareness and management skills.  Participate and support effective training program in accordance with the mission and vision of the department.  The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of facility, FoodPro, LeanPath, equipment, and policies in order to cross train staff.    

Specific Job Duties:

  • Assists on stations, prepares and follows daily prep sheets and recipes according to Chefs/FoodPro. Monitors product on lines and assist in ordering.
  • Maintains and ensures staff utilizes LeanPath.
  • Tests new recipes, recipe corrections and update appropriate staff members.
  • Ensures FoodPro service records are thoroughly accurate and completed.
  • Utilizes FIFO inventory practices, correct product labeling, and storage guidelines.
  • Reports to appropriate staff member equipment concerns.
  • Participates in departmental menu committee and ongoing development of menu.
  • Adheres to set guidelines, policies, and time schedules.
  • Ensures the success of the next shift by completing prep and refilling lines before the next shift takes over.
  • Reviews station checklists, side duties, and special clean ups are completed as assigned and to the expectation of the department.
  • Ensures food quality and safety requirements are met in accordance with all standards.
  • Continuous training and development for team and self per guidelines. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 


Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent with three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

The university announced in April 2008 that is will begin Division I-AA football in 2010.

The university’s innovative Touch the Earth program brings outdoor recreation ranging from backpacking, rock climbing, sailing, kayaking, rafting and water-skiing to out-of-state snow-skiing and snorkeling trips. And WRAS, Georgia State’s popular 100,000-watt radio voice, is the most powerful student-run radio station in the United States.
