Schedule: 
A variety of shifts are available during the Bookstore's regular hours of operation between 9AM-6PM (Monday - Thursday) and 10AM-4:30PM (Friday).
Maximum 20 hours per week.
Current work plan: Work will be On-Site.

Job Description:

  1. Provide exceptional face-to-face customer service to Bookstore patrons.
  2. Accurately run a cash register while conducting large volumes of transactions.
  3. Maintain friendly demeanor while explaining products, suggesting solutions, and providing information.
  4. Recover store during busy periods while maintaining focus on the customer.
  5. Assists with the processing of web orders.  Picks orders from stock, packs, processes payment, and prepares shipments for customers who order online.
  6. Assist textbook team to physically count and verify textbooks and/or merchandise.  Assist in the preparation of textbooks/merchandise for the retail floor by labeling, security tagging, shrink wrapping, building kits, and stocks the retail floor.
  7. Assist Textbook team in preparing textbook returns for shipment.
  8. Take part in annual bookstore inventory.
  9. Participates in special projects or events and other assignments presented by the leadership team.
  10. Performs other duties as required to meet workload demands.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
Knowledge of: Standard retail and merchandising practices and procedures; general warehousing practices; customer service; computer skills; and mathematics.

Skill in: Strong customer service; verbal and written communications; organizing and planning work; contributing to a positive store environment; strong organization skills; being adaptable and accepting of new challenges and open to change.

Ability to: Interact effectively with customers; work as a team in a busy retail environment; develop and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with associates, students, and guests of the college; adhere to Columbus State policy and procedures; multi-task; maintain records; effectively use computer systems including Microsoft Office applications; juggle tasks and different issues while still maintaining productivity; and be self-motivated.

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires applicants to have Federal Work Study as part of their current Financial Aid package with Columbus State. You must also be enrolled in SIX or more credit hours in a degree or certificate program. Applicants must have received a high school diploma or a certificate of attendance from an accredited secondary school or a certificate of high school equivalence and be exempt from Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4109. 

Must have reliable transportation or other means to get to work regularly. 

Students enrolled as Transient, College Credit Plus, Undecided, or otherwise non degree-seeking are not considered eligible for Student Employment. 

Preferred Qualifications: Previous retail, food service, or customer service experience.
