Senior/Post-Doctoral Housing Research Associate
The Housing Initiative at Penn (HIP) seeks applications for a Senior or Post-Doctoral Research Associate to conduct empirical research related to housing insecurity, economic precarity, and public assistance. HIP is dedicated to achieving more effective, equitable housing policy at the local, state, and national
levels. HIP advances policy through rigorous research, civic partnerships, and honest and inclusive planning processes. As a member of the HIP research team, the Senior/Post-Doctoral Research Associate will contribute to HIP's academic publications, working papers, and research reports. The Senior/Post-
Doctoral Research Associate will also be responsible for managing discrete research projects.
Projects
HIP is engaged in a variety of research projects, including 1) working directly with state and municipal partners to evaluate emergency rental assistance programs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic; 2) studying the implementation and impacts of guaranteed income programs; and 3) studying existing
programs and policies aimed at addressing issues of housing stability, eviction, and affordability. As the Senior/Post-Doctoral Housing Research Associate, you will lead one or more of the above projects.
Essential Functions
● Generates academic articles, reports, and working papers in collaboration with HIP staff, interns, and faculty, as well as independently
● Works directly with municipal and other partners to conceptualize, design, and manage largescale research projects
● Presents research at research and practitioners' conferences and other venues and translates findings to broader audiences
● Works collaboratively as part of a tight-knit team
