Job Summary

College of Eastern Idaho is seeking a detail-oriented, thorough, and organized AV Technician to join our growing team. The technician will play a key role providing support for all areas of AV. An ideal candidate will expect to set up, install, operate, test and troubleshoot audio and video equipment within the organization. This position will also be helping out the Help Desk team with various tasks.

Typical Job Functions

  • Update, upgrade and maintain all AV equipment on campus
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues with AV equipment
  • Provide support for meetings, events, including setting up and operating, recording, and editing media
  • Keep systems up-to-date through operating systems patches and upgrades
  • Conduct sound, visual, and performance quality checks on AV equipment
  • Provides individual and/or group instruction and training to faculty, staff, and/or students on new or updated technologies
  • Assists with the design, implementation, and ongoing support of new software and features
  • AV equipment includes projectors, TVs, speakers, microphones, smart carts, webcams and etc.
  • Provides technical support either by phone, remote access, and/or site visits as needed
  • Maintains current knowledge with respect to technology, equipment, applicable laws, regulations, standards and/or systems
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
  • Minimum Qualifications

    • Experience identifying and resolving computer and system problems including compatibility conflicts, application issues, and hardware malfunctions
    • Strong customer-service experience with outstanding interpersonal skills
    • In-depth knowledge of audio, video and classroom equipment
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Good knowledge of Zoom, Microsoft Teams and other video conferencing tools
    • Ability to analyze and resolve AV, computer and network problems
    • Up-to-date knowledge of systems, information, software, and upgrades
    Additional Desired Qualifications

  • One or more years of experience in IT environment
  • Previous experience as a AV Technician, Computer Technician, or IT Support
  • Experience imaging Microsoft Windows desktop computers
  • Associate degree or higher in IT related field
  • CompTIA A+ certification, or other IT related professional certification
  • Bi-Lingual (English & Spanish)

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
