Position Description:
Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the incumbent will work to compile, code, and analyze datasets from genealogical resources and online family trees and from complete count population censuses. The incumbent is to prepare and format large data sets for subsequent analysis and analyze the quality of the resulting representation using software tools developed. The data will include collecting historical and vital records associated with Civil War veterans and their descendants and with individuals born in Sweden and their descendants. These collections will be used to study later-life work levels, health, and aging resulting from early-life environmental conditions, including harvest shocks, socio-economic conditions and war-time experience. The job requires developing an expertise with and thorough understanding of the Union Army data sets and the Swedish datasets and the changing historical contexts in which the primary documents were originally recorded. The position requires responsibility for data cleaning, and coding strategies.

The incumbent is to develop and improve tools and test out methods developed on simulated and real datasets. Incumbent is to maintain detailed records of the research and all statistical analysis obtained from all the datasets there were compiled and coded.
