Postdoctoral Research Associate in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics

An immediate postdoctoral position in the area of theoretical condensed matter physics is available in the group of Prof. Cristian D. Batista at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The position provides an opportunity to work on frustrated itinerant magnets, topological ordering, skyrmion physics and f-electron materials using numerical methods and quantum many-body for condensed matter systems. 

The Department has an exemplary research record, with seven professors earning NSF CAREER awards in the past eight years, eight professors among the world’s top two percent of physicists based on citation count, the award of the prestigious American Physical Society 2021 Bonner Prize, eleven APS Fellows, and three AAAS Fellows. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

(1) PhD in Physics or closely related field (degree to be completed no later than December 2021).

(2) Research experience in quantum condensed matter physics with emphasis on quantum magnetism.

(3) Excellent numerical and computational skills.

(4) Significant record of peer-reviewed publications.

(5) Strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with the physics of strongly correlated quantum systems.
