Merced College is a midsized community college located in California's Central Valley. Founded in 1962, the college serves more than 16,000 students, with room to expand on its 267-acre main campus and 120-acre Los Banos site, as well as at our innovative Business Resource Center in Downtown Merced. The Office of Human Resources operates as a strategic partner, doesn't shy from innovation, and is looking to fill the position of Director of Human Resources/Title IX to increase our capacity to serve our College community. This management position will supervise HR classified professionals and report directly to the Vice President of Human Resources. This is a classified administrative leadership position for the District. The incumbent reports directly to the Associate Vice President of Human Resources (AVPHR) and serves as the day-to-day office manager. The incumbent will independently perform professional work involving judgment in the interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements, policy and procedure, as well as applicable state and federal laws (e.g. Title 5 regulations, California Education Code, state labor laws, federal labor laws). The incumbent will assist the Associate Vice President with developing and implementing short and long-range plans and strategies to meet the District's goals for compliance, recruitment, selection, compensation and classification, benefits administration, labor relations, and performance management. The incumbent will serve as the District's Title IX Officer and will contribute significantly to the District's equity, diversity, and equal employment opportunity programs, including serving as an investigator as needed. The incumbent has a high frequency of responsible contact with administrative and professional staff and with other public agencies.
