Working Position Title:Trio Upward Bound Summer Instructor Position Title:Trio Upward Bound Summer Instructor(s), Civil Service Extra Help (13446) Department:643498 - TRIO Programs Job Posting Description:

The Trio Upward Bound Instructor position will provide math, foreign language, language arts and science instruction to students enrolled in the Upward Bound Scholars Academy program. This 6-week Summer Residential Academy hosted on the Edwardsville campus works to prepare students to have the skills they need to succeed in high school and college. The Upward Bound Summer Academy is not a traditional summer school, but rather a learning community where students expand their mind, gain independence, and participate in a simulated college experience.

The Summer Academy begins early-June for students and runs through mid-July. Instructors will begin work on or around June 1.

Upward Bound Scholars Academy (UBSA) is a TRIO program federally funded by the U.S. Department of Education. UBSA serves high school students from low-income families, and high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor’s degree. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education. The Summer Academy is a six-week summer residential program on the SIUE campus that is filled with academic workshops and enrichment activities for UBSA participants.
