Position Title:Hall/Community Director (13356) Department:840300 - Housing Job Posting Description:

The Housing department at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is seeking candidates to fill a full-time vacancy for a Hall/Community Director. The Hall/Community Director is a live-in professional staff member responsible for the daily operations of a 500-bed residence hall or a portion of an apartment community (Prairie Hall). The Community Director directly supervises one Graduate Assistant (Assistant Community Director) and 11-15 undergraduate Resident Assistants (hiring, training, evaluation, discipline, resolution of work concerns, termination). The selected candidate will work to create an atmosphere that promotes student engagement, academic success, personal development, respect for diversity, and a strong sense of community, and plays an integral role in residential curriculum development and further growing the living-learning program (Focused Interest Communities or FICs) housed in their community. Additionally, Hall/Community Directors share on-call responsibilities for approximately 3,500 on-campus students. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs and goals of the department.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree-Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

-Master's degree, preferably in College Student Personnel Administration or related field.-Experience in university housing as an undergraduate/graduate staff member or student leader.-Awareness of the overall University Housing philosophy as it relates to service and education for the campus community.-Must be skilled in the areas of supervision, communication, training, decision making, programming, planning, budgeting, and valuation.-Ability to work closely with students, parents, faculty, and staff in teaching, counseling, and work situations, keeping issues confidential as needed.-Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.-Experience working with a residential curriculum model.
