Lafayette College seeks a talented, collaborative post production assistant to join the creative group in the Communications Division. The post production assistant will be part of an active photo & video team. This person will be responsible for managing and tracking all source-material photo, video, and audio elements and assets that are part of production and ensure that the finished product meets the creative vision and meets all technical specifications. The ideal candidate is expected to have strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, yet is creative. They should be comfortable using the Creative Suite, and be familiar with video editing equipment, digital video, and have knowledge of digital photo and video file formats. An understanding of the logistics of the post-production process and technical knowledge are also necessary.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Fulfilling requests from designers, content managers and clients to complete tasks such as editing, transcribing subtitles, or creating other digital assets.
  • Assist in implementing a tagging strategy for the digital assets
  • Handling the culling and editing of event based photo assignments
  • Processing of photos and ensuring that all photos are backed up
  • Reviewing footage from each shoot day to ensure compliance with brand standards, as well adherence to copyright laws regarding use of copyrighted material
  • Assisting the editors with tasks such as logging footage, syncing audio and video tracks, and assembling rough cuts of video
  • Organizing and managing the storage and retrieval of digital media files for editing or distribution

Qualifications, Job Knowledge & Skills, Experience

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Proficient in design and communication software and technologies: This person will have expert knowledge of Adobe Premiere,  and working knowledge of other Adobe Creative Suite applications such as After Effects, Lightroom, and Bridge. Additionally, this person must be well versed in most cloud based storage, specifically Google Drive. A working knowledge of enterprise digital asset management systems is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills: This person will be responsible for cataloging and tracking photography and video files and other materials related to a project. This person must have excellent follow-through and ability to find and utilize all resources available.
  • An eye for good composition Excellent communication: This person may communicate with different stakeholders throughout the production process.
  • Excellent time management: This person will often have to handle multiple projects and deadlines at once therefore they must have the ability to work well under time constraints and prioritize assignments.
  • Have 3 years minimum experience in a post-production environment, with skills revolving around asset management and delivery
  • Willingness to go the extra mile to find solutions to problems, and possibly help with transporting equipment to campus locations
