Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Full-time, nine-month Instructor/Assistant Professor position to begin August 15, 2022.

Teach 12 hours per semester of courses in animal science including (but not limited to) Introduction to Animal Science, livestock nutrition, reproduction, and management with specific emphasis on core classes. Successful applicant will have academic advising, student recruitment and course development responsibilities. The successful candidate will also be expected to serve as an advisor to student clubs and organizations, to work closely with equine and livestock managers, to interact with an industry advisory committee, and develop a working relationship with industries relevant to the programs. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in research and professional development activities. Involvement in service/leadership activities to the school, university, industry and state, regional, and national professional organizations will be included as a part of position responsibilities. Actual teaching assignments will be based on the specific strengths of the successful candidate and the curricular needs of the school.

Minimum Education Requirements:

Master’s degree in Animal Science or related field is required.

Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:

Significant skills/work experience in the livestock industry required. Demonstrated competence in the area of Animal Science is also required. The ability to teach and work in a multidisciplinary School of Agriculture is expected.


Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Animal Science is preferred. ABD with a documented plan of completion by start date will be considered. Previous teaching experience at a college/university and/or work or farm management experience in food animal science, particularly beef cattle, is preferred. Experience working with graduate students and graduate programs and experience with competitive teams (judging teams, Quadrathalon, etc.) is also preferred.

Note: If the successful candidate is master’s prepared, the position will be filled as a non-tenure track, instructor. If the successful candidate holds a terminal degree, the position will be filled as a tenure-track, assistant professor.
