Job Details

Wells College, a small liberal arts college located in the Finger Lakes region of New York State, is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Adolescence Education beginning August 2022. Responsibilities include teaching, advising, supervising clinical field placements and student teaching, engaging in service to the college, and maintaining a modest research agenda. The Wells College Education Program provides pathways to initial teaching certification at the undergraduate level through the Inclusive Education Major (dual certification in Special Education and General Education Grades 1-6) and the Adolescent Education Program (certification in one of seven content areas, Grades 7-12), in addition to a minor in Education.  

 

Required Qualifications: An earned doctorate in the field of education from an accredited institution or university. Successful candidates must have at least three years of experience working in K-12 public school classrooms with diverse populations.

Desired Qualifications: Post-secondary teaching experience working with teacher preparation programs. Experience supervising students in adolescence education field experiences and student teaching placements. Experience with national program reviews or national accreditation agencies such as the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP). Experience with program assessment. Expertise in instructional strategies for secondary education, multicultural education, and culturally relevant pedagogy.
