Under the direction of the Building Services Supervisor, the Building Services Technician will be responsible for the Universitys events set ups, mange office furniture, perform general maintenance duties as well as perform commercial painting and refinishing of structures, furnishings, and surfaces. The Facilities Building Services Technician will prioritize safety and communication in their work and have working knowledge of all safety regulations. The Facilities Building Services Technician possess a proven ability to read, interpret and work from diagrams and other documents. Duties and Responsibilities:- Coordinates the logistics necessary to plan and execute conferences, meetings, and various types of special events for the school, a department, or division.
- Interfaces with clients to plan events and oversees their implementation.
- Responsible for collecting, loading, and transporting office furniture, laboratory equipment, and special event items including but not limited to: stages, tables, lecterns, chairs and event information.
- Lifts and moves equipment that may weigh over 100 pounds
- Ensures the proper safeguarding of tools and moving equipment. Assists in facility and vehicle management maintenance.
- May operate trucks
- Assures superior customer service to both external and internal customers by providing accurate and timely follow-through on all inquiries.
- Communicates with supervisor to ensure work orders are processed on time and labor completed.
- Supports the need of the department by being a team player and having flexibility with work orders and schedule adjustments.
- Make periodic building rounds or perform PMs to check that all required assets are functioning properly. Replace ceiling tiles, light bulbs, and such.
- Assure that deficiencies are reported via the CMMS system. Communicate with management any hazards or risks that require immediate attention.
- Takes necessary precautions, use personal protective equipment as required in keeping with OSHA standards and other applicable regulations when working with hazardous chemicals.
- May paint, hang and finish drywall. Preps surfaces before beginning a project.
- Respond to emergency calls and work requests as required.
- Ensure adequate inventory of necessary supplies and parts.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
